Canton's elementary, middle and high schools are connected within one complex on State Street. F.S. Banford Elementary, J.M. McKenney Middle School and Hugh C. Williams Senior High School serve a community that is also home to St. Lawrence University and SUNY Canton. Those nearby colleges form part of the educational setting, and secondary students have opportunities for dual enrollment and college credit.
The school's 2025–26 profile describes honors English in the early high school years and Advanced Placement options in English, mathematics, science, history and government. French and Spanish provide world-language sequences, while agriculture, technology and family and consumer science offer other areas to explore. Occupational programs through BOCES extend the choices beyond the campus, and independent study gives students an additional way to shape their academic work.
