Penfield’s four elementary schools—Cobbles, Harris Hill, Indian Landing, and Scribner Road—feed Bay Trail Middle School for grades 6–8, followed by Penfield High School. In September 2026, Bay Trail replaces its house system with grade-level teaching teams.
The new structure assigns counselors and grade-level administrators to follow a student cohort through its three middle-school years. Some returning students may initially be assigned a different counselor or administrator. Sixth-grade core classrooms are grouped near one another on the first floor. Seventh and eighth graders may continue to travel around the building for accelerated or specialized classes. Counselors also organize rotating advisory groups during FLEX study-hall periods to maintain contact with students.
Special education and English-language support retain their existing service models. Project Challenge enrichment continues to group students by grade.
