Wantagh’s three elementary schools—Forest Lake, Mandalay, and Wantagh Elementary—feed one middle school and one high school. Middle-school technology study includes Automation and Robotics through Project Lead the Way. Students use VEX equipment to design and program devices such as traffic lights and robotic arms, applying ideas about mechanical systems, energy transfer, and computer control.
An alternative secondary setting is available through the Wantagh Twilight Academy, operated through Nassau BOCES. It serves teenagers who have struggled in a traditional school setting and meets in the late afternoon. The program supports students working toward a return to their home high schools or completion of their high school requirements. Classes meet Monday through Thursday, giving the Academy a four-afternoon weekly schedule.
