Elmont Union Free School District serves prekindergarten through sixth grade at Alden Terrace, Clara H. Carlson, Covert Avenue, Dutch Broadway, Gotham Avenue, and Stewart Manor. Secondary education is provided by the separate Sewanhaka Central High School District; Elmont does not operate its own middle or high school.
Fundations supports kindergarten through second-grade literacy through phonics, word study, handwriting, and spelling. Children needing more reading help can receive targeted intervention and guided reading. Science includes hands-on investigations, while music and drama provide other ways to participate. Special education services may include speech and language therapy, occupational or physical therapy, and psychological or social-work support according to the child's individual plan. Parents concerned about development or learning can contact Pupil Personnel Services to discuss evaluation and available services.
