The Union Free School District of the Tarrytowns groups children by grade rather than neighborhood. John Paulding serves prekindergarten and kindergarten, Tappan Hill first grade, W.L. Morse second grade, and Washington Irving grades 3–5. Students continue to Sleepy Hollow Middle School for grades 6–8 and Sleepy Hollow High School for grades 9–12.
Families can apply for the K–5 dual-language program, which teaches the regular grade-level curriculum in English and Spanish. Classes bring native speakers of both languages together and divide instructional time equally between them. The district asks participating families to commit through the end of elementary school. Pupil Personnel Services coordinates counseling, psychological services, nursing, and special education. Counseling and health support also serve students who do not have a special education identification.
