How this list was compiled
Data is current as of October 26, 2026. This breakdown covers 659 New York public school district calendars for the 2026–2027 school year, including districts that do not yet have a dedicated calendar page on this site (shown without links). A district is counted as closed if its official calendar gives all students the day off, whether for a holiday, a Superintendent's Conference Day or another staff-only day. Student enrollment shares are calculated from 2024–25 NCES figures and exclude the two small districts without reported enrollment.
